Running up the score...
Charles Ward : 12-07-2008
Let me get one thing out of the way: I thought it was questionable, at best, for Bob stoops to have Sam Bradford in during OU’s final scoring drive of the Big 12 championship game Saturday. OU led 55-21 and any reasonable voter that held doubts about OU either already had them resolved, or wouldn’t have been swayed by five touchdowns in the final minute (despite Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbst

"Early, early morning..."
Charles Ward : 12-03-2008
"Early, early morning, in the middle of the night
Rational discourse and reason got up to fight
Back to back, they faced each other
Drew their swords and fought each other
And if you don't think my lie is true,
Ask the blind policeman, he saw it too."

This rhyme, that my grandfather taught me (more or less), came to mind during the recent d

Getting the fans out for the hoopsters
Charles Ward : 12-02-2008
It’s always baffled me as to why the OU men’s basketball team can’t get consistent fan support, as least as far as butts-in-the-seats support is concerned. Sure, the Lloyd Noble Center will (usually) be packed for Kansas, Texas, OSU and the 1-2 big-name non-conference games that come through every year. But, it remains one-half to three-quarters full for everyone else, even for most of the B

A Three-Way Tie
Charles Ward : 11-25-2008
OK, we’re all going to take a deep breath and focus. There seems to bee some mass hysteria running around regarding the Big 12 South title race.
So, to clarify, there is a three-way tie at the top of the standings. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech are all 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
Now, I know a couple of the few reading this will say to themselves, “Well, duh!” Good for yo

Realigning the Big 12 South: Tradition and Fair play
Charles Ward : 11-06-2008
The Big 12 should be realigned, for three reasons:
1) The imbalance of power. I know, I know, the North ran roughshod over the conference in its formative years. Nebraska was the conference champion in 1997 and 1999 (and was the best team in the conference in 1996 before being upset in the title game. Same for K-State in 1998)

Is he still 'Big Game Bob?'
Charles Ward : 10-18-2008
When Bob Stoops came to Oklahoma in 1999, he almost instantly earned a reputation for leading the Oklahoma Sooners to wins when it really counted. OU knocked off four top 10 teams (five in the top 11) en route to a BCS national title in 2000.
‘Big Game Bob’ was born.
Stoops followed that impressive second-year feat with wins in the Cotton and Rose Bowls and, perhaps most importantly within
